Central Point decision designed to attract major retailers could meet with opposition
CENTRAL POINT, Ore. - The city of Central Point has opened the door for big box retailers like WalMart.
On Thursday, the Central Point City Council voted unanimously to lift a citywide 80,000 square-foot limit on building size, something that had previously prevented retailers from moving in.
The city council hopes easing the restriction brings more big businesses to the city, giving the local economy a shot in the arm. In place of removing the size limit, stores must design buildings that have a more segmented look, like a city center. . .
