Landowners would give 20 acres to the Medford School District; in turn
the district would request that the owners adjacent land be annexed
into the city's growth boundary
The Medford School Board will decide today
whether to accept a 20-acre gift of land in rural southwest Medford in
exchange for doing the landowners a big favor.
If
it accepts the land for a future school site, the school district would
agree to ask the city to include the landowners' adjacent property in
the city's urban growth boundary and to annex the property so that it
could be subdivided. The district would not acquire the land if its
request is unsuccessful. The urban growth boundary helps dictate future
development in urban areas, and inclusion in it significantly increases
the value of land. . .
We are providing important information on two ballot measures that will impact all residents of Jackson County. We encourage Jackson County residents to vote no on the land-use ballot measures 15-110 & 15-111. Click here for more information about these ballot initiatives.
